POSITION GOAL:
The Senior Quality Coordinator collaborates with the VP of Quality in being responsible for the daily activities of the Quality Management Department, the Performance Improvement Programs and leading others toward full compliance with all accreditation and licensure standards at all times in conjunction with the Quality/Risk and Executive Team. The Senior Quality Coordinator under the supervision of the VP of Quality is responsible for planning and organizing the provision of services for the Quality Management Department. Additionally, the Senior Quality Coordinator is responsible for managing the coordination and monitoring of collaborative quality improvement activities performed by the Nursing Department, Ancillary Departments and the Medical Staff in order to enhance patient care in collaboration with the VP of Quality. This position works closely with the VP of Quality to assist with Federal, State regulations compliance and accreditation standard guidelines for the facility's clinical, medical and ancillary staff. As a Senior Quality Coordinator, regularly participates in development and implementation of Performance Improvement Plans, goals and objectives across the organization. Completes other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
1) Bachelor's Degree in healthcare related field
Experience:
1) Minimum of 5 years healthcare experience with 3 to 5 years experience focusing on quality management and performance improvement.
2) Experience with survey preparation, peer review, core measures and regulatory requirements.
Other Qualifications:
1) Maintains required licensure as applicable. CPHQ preferred. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Self-motivation and initiative are required. Excellent leadership, communication skills and abilities. Responsible for quality/timeliness of work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:
This position requires knowledge of Continuous Quality Improvement. The individual needs to be able to coordinate and monitor collaborative Quality Improvement activities performed by the Nursing Department, Ancillary Departments and Medical Staff. The individual must be available for consultations regarding collaborative Quality Performance Improvement issues. Must be proficient in the recording and interpretation of minutes. Must be proficient in medical record abstraction including those initiatives pertaining to Core Measures and Evidence Based Medicine initiatives. Must be proficient in managing the Peer Review Process. Assists the VP of Quality with the preparation for review by the regulatory agencies. It is extremely essential to have good communication and relationships with all Hospital departments, physicians and employees. Must have knowledge of statistics and possess varied computer skills. Will participate in any Performance Improvement Teams as requested.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Light work as defined by the Dictionary of Occupational Titles - Exerting up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, and/ or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work. Even though the weight lifted may only be a negligible amount, a job should be rated light work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree. A significant amount of computer skills are needed, as well as closed chart review.
