Hot Section Engineering (HSE) is looking for a motivated, high energy individual to lead a team of design engineers and product definition specialists in the development of innovative advanced hot section components and systems for a variety of programs ranging from concept initiation/optimization to flight demonstrators and production engines.
The HSE / South Design Supervisor provides both technical and administrative leadership and direction to approximately 15 design personnel to drive sound engineering and decision making in the execution of assigned tasks. The design group supervisor has sufficient depth and diversity of skills in the design discipline, human relations, and leadership to oversee and manage the technical group under his/her span of control.
Current work includes the JSF (Joint Strike Fighter) exhaust system; the Navy UCAS (Unmanned Combat Air System) exhaust system; the FT4000 gas generator; technology demonstration activities; as well as improving design best practices, tools, and methods development. The design engineering team will also support the fabrication/construction, first piece inspection, validation, and flight testing of advanced systems / considering cost, feasibility, safety, environmental impact, and adherence to program requirements. Frequent interfacing with other engineering disciplines, including the Systems and Validation groups is required.

15+ years experience in the design of turbo machinery and relevant hot static structures in severe acoustic environments. Demonstrated ability in defining and leading design activities, guiding other engineers, and experience in building and managing high performance teams.
Practical knowledge of materials, design processes, jet engine hot sections, engine instrumentation and test procedures, Team Center, and Unigraphics solid modeling is also required. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and PC based systems is required.
Highly Desired Experience: Proficient demonstration of continuous improvement tools, such as 6-Sigma or ACE, to drive process improvements leading to increased customer satisfaction; proven ability in leading major turbine engine design activities / including turbine airfoils, rotors, major structural cases, and exhaust systems; demonstrated ability to mentor, motivate, and lead technical high performance teams.
